The Leelanau County Road Commission is composed of 3 members, each elected of a 6-year term of office. The terms are staggered so that in each even numbered year one of the commission seats is up to election. Each January the three Commissioners hold an organizational meeting and elect officers. The current officers are:
Chairman: Lee A. Bowen
Vice-Chairman: John Popa
Member: Glen Noonan
The duties and responsibilities of the Road Commission are to set the policy for the Road Commission, adopt a budget, and see that the full-time staff members carry out the business of the Road Commission. Regular meetings of the Road Commission are held at the Road Commission office in Suttons Bay (located at 10550 E. Eckerle Road) at 1:00 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Public comment is early on the agenda of every regular meeting. Members of the public are always welcome and encouraged to attend.
